This fine turn-of-the-century style home is simply dripping with history and ambiance! This property has been the focal point of the Forest Home community - located amid land that was the focus of many parcels of lands owned by the historic Perkins family - this area, as some have postulated, gained prominence at the turn of the twentieth century as a central location for markets, voting, and for weighing and selling farm products. It has been speculated by some that some structure has existed on this site since as early as the 1840s, and in its heyday placed capped limestone posts at the entrance with iron gates and hangers. It is situated diagonally across from the corner that is now the turn onto Old Natchez Trace Road. There was an old Country Store located on the corner of the property near the remains of the crop scales that was demolished in the 1970s. The rectangular foundation of the crop scales is still visible near the "for sale" sign. The Sale Agent is an accomplished metal detectorist, metal detecting since the age of twelve, and has already uncovered many relics dating the property to at least the late 19th century. This fine property and location certainly have extremely deep roots in the history of Williamson County.
The home has such a pristine, "old country" appeal and location that it has been often used to shoot Country Music and commercial videos as evidenced by the owner's extensive collection of photos taken of those events featuring several different artists and people of fame. That should inform any prospective buyer of the magnetic appeal of the home by its frequent use for shooting videos and commercials.
Some that can be viewed shot at the home are:
Ricky Van Shelton, 'Got a couple of good years left,' https://youtu.be/vmQ6H5KSO8A
James Prosser, 'Life Goes On,' https://youtu.be/xvyHfH-UYCk
Tami Jones Andrews Featuring Billy Gaines, 'Mary did you know?' https://youtu.be/fysKFOhfvzw
A Judd's car commercial, https://youtu.be/Du7Fj0aQWVA
The house currently is in very good condition with necessary upkeep and minimalist modernization, so it remains preserved as close to its original condition and yet remains quite livable as it is. It is still owned by the family that bought it in the early 1960s.
An article by Will Jordan in 2007 for 'Southern Exposure Magazine' describes it as "A County Treasure" of Williamson County, Tennessee. In the article it is noted that the owners were "more interested in preservation than restoration," and further "a lot of the features of the house and barn are exactly how we found them in 1961. There are some things you just don't disturb." These statements have been found to be true.
